Long-Term Disability

A Disability Insurance Policy will provide assurance and coverage for employees who become disabled and can no longer perform work in order to earn income. LTD insurance is typically offered through the employer on a voluntary, payroll deducted basis to the employees. It is an excellent benefit to the employees without increasing the benefit costs to the employer. The basic components are listed below:

Program: Private long term wage loss insurance.

Benefit: Replaces a portion of lost earnings for a specified time, typically greater than one year.

Eligibility: Medical proof that a disabling condition is a cause of wage loss. Definitions vary from provider to provider.

Participancy: May be sponsored through employer or other group. Available to individuals subject to medical underwriting.
